Crash Involving Tractor-Trailer Snarls Traffic On New Jersey Turnpike For Hours

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- An accident involving a tractor-trailer created a traffic nightmare on the New Jersey Turnpike.

According to state police, the tractor-trailer jackknifed and burst into flames when it collided with a minivan around 3:30 a.m. Saturday in South Brunswick.

The truck diver, 32-year-old Elliot Remi of Queens, was headed southbound on the turnpike when he rear-ended the minivan driven by 48-year-old Bronx resident Troy Claffee, state police said.

Remi wasn't injured in the crash, but Claffee was treated at a hospital for undisclosed injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, which tied up traffic in the area for a few hours.

Authorities said it's not clear if any charges will be filed.
