NJ Man Accused Of Purposely Burning 6-Year-Old Child's Face With Lighter
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A New Jersey man accused of using a lighter to intentionally burn a child's face has been charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
Kareem Hayes, 36, of New Brunswick, was arrested on Nov. 29. An investigation by Toms River Police found that Hayes purposefully used a lighter to burn the face of a 6-year-old child he was watching at a home in Toms River, police said.
The child suffered second and third-degree burns to the face, neck and ear, police said.
Hayes is being held in the Ocean County Jail on $250,000 bail.
