Report: Despite Internal Pressure, NFL Has Talked Settlement With Brady

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Will the NFL and Tom Brady reach a compromise?

There have been negotiations between the league and Brady's camp as the New England Patriots quarterback fights a four-game suspension for his role in the Deflategate controversy, according to Pro Football Talk.

Brady met with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on June 23 to appeal his ban after the league's investigation found the Pats star was "at least generally aware" of under-inflated footballs used in last season's AFC title game.

Citing an NFL source, PFT's Mike Florio reported late Wednesday that, though the sides have talked, "no progress has been made" and a deal at this point "would be unexpected."

"Per the source, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is being pushed by a small handful of influential owners to hold firm on the four-game suspension," Florio wrote.

Brady is expected to bring the NFL to federal court if his suspension isn't overturned. The defending champion Patriots will open the season on Thursday night, Sept. 10 against Pittsburgh.
