Toddler Found Roaming Streets In Newark

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A 3-year-old boy was found wandering the streets alone in Newark on Tuesday.

A woman saw the toddler and immediately brought him to a firehouse on Sanford Avenue, CBS2's Christine Sloan reported.

The boy was taken away just after 11 a.m. by EMS workers, along with a woman inside the vehicle. Police said the child's 21-year-old sister showed up at the firehouse and explained the child had slipped out of the house.

He was found about a half block from his home, cops said.

Police told CBS2 the boy was not hurt and was being brought to University Hospital as a precaution.

The Department of Children and Families has been notified. No criminal charges will be filed at this time, police said.
