Thrill Seekers Head To Coney Island For Opening Of New 'Thunderbolt' Roller Coaster

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- New York's newest roller coaster was set to open to the public on Saturday.

Thrill seekers were on hand for the official first ride of the new Thunderbolt roller coaster at Coney Island.

The ceremony began with a ribbon cutting at Luna Park, where the new ride replaced the original wooden Thunderbolt, CBS 2 reported.

The new Thunderbolt is Coney Island's first custom-built roller coaster since 1927.
