Three Lemur Babies Debut At Wildlife Conservation Society's Bronx Zoo
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - They're ready for their close-up.
Three brown collared lemur babies are making their debut in the Madagascar! exhibit at the Wildlife Conservation Society's Bronx Zoo.
The trio include a rare set of twins born to mother Vera and father Antoine on April 1. The single baby was born to mother Jakara and father Gerard on April 6.
All three infants are frequently found nestling in their mothers' fur. They ride on their mother's back for the first few months of their lives.
The arrival of the trio means there are now 34 living collared lemurs in 10 zoos.
Lemurs are only found on Madagascar. The species is classified as "vulnerable" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
