Thousands Turn Out For Valerie Fund Walk In New Jersey, Raise $1 Million

VERONA, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- An estimated 4,000 people walked the paths of New Jersey's Verona Park for the annual Valerie Fund Walk and Run Saturday morning.

The organization, dedicated to supporting the families of children with cancer, exceeded their own fundraising expectations this year, WCBS 880's Tim Scheld reports.

As the walk began they announced the participants had raised over $1 million dollars.

WCBS 880 is a proud sponsor along with CBS2.

On hand today for the walk was CBS2 anchor Alice Gainer who served as emcee and Vanessa Murdoch who brought the sunshine and the CBS mobile weather lab.
