NYC teen stabbed to death as pizzeria fight spills onto street, Queens councilwoman says
A fight at a New York City pizzeria spilled out onto the street before a teenager was stabbed to death, a Queens councilwoman says.
Councilmember Joann Ariola said on social media that it appeared the 17-year-old was stabbed in the neck after an altercation at a pizzeria near 85th Avenue and 76th Street in the Woodhaven section.
Police said a 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old identified as Derek Trejo have been arrested and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
Surveillance video captures deadly attack
The NYPD on Saturday identified the victim as Josue Argudo, who lived around the corner from the crime scene.
A surveillance camera on Patricia Ammirati's home captured the moments leading up to the deadly attack just before 4 p.m. Friday.
"These kids, they come up the block and they are always arguing," Ammirati said.
The video shows one person chasing Argudo.
"The kid ran up here, grabbed him right on my corner, boom boom, stabbed him, let him go," Ammirati said.
Argudo fled from his attacker, making it to a neighbor's front stoop, where he collapsed. Neighbors jumped into action, performing CPR on the teenager.
He was rushed to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead, police said.
Ammirati said video shows the attacker and an accomplice casually walking away after the stabbing.
"They didn't even run. They just walked back down, and I can't believe it," she said.
Violence shocks neighbors
Neighbors said the violence unfolded in just seconds.
"Who's telling a young kid to stab another young kid with a knife in the middle of the day? They need role models," Eddie Sawulski said.
While the crime scene has since been cleared, police said they're still going through as much evidence and surveillance video as possible.
