Teen Lifeguard Saves 6-Year-Old Girl From Near Drowning In Bayonne

BAYONNE, N.J. (CBSNewYork)-- A lifeguard in Bayonne is being called a hero after saving a 6-year-old girl who nearly drowned.

Eighteen-year-old Luke Bilotta was on duty at the DiDomenico Municipal Pool when he noticed the girl had not resurfaced. He immediately jumped in and pulled her out of the water so he could start CPR.

The girl regained consciousness before she was rushed to the hospital.

"I didn't know how far gone she was or how long she had been under. But I just started praying and saying you're not going to die on me," Bilotta told CBS2.

The little girl was reportedly at day camp at the time of the incident.
