NJ Teacher At Catholic High School Charged With Fondling Student Who Came To Classroom Seeking Extra Credit

LAWRENCE, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A 26-year-old high school teacher in New Jersey fondled a student when she came to the classroom seeking extra credit, police said.

Mercer County prosecutors say Edmund Harman was arrested Monday at his Franklin Township home. He faces three counts of child endangerment and one count of criminal sexual contact.

Authorities say the Notre Dame High School science teacher fondled the girl, kissed the back of her neck and massaged her legs and back during the alleged incident. He also allegedly asked her to send him nude photos.

Officials at the Catholic school said Harman has been placed on administrative leave.

Harman's bail was set at $150,000. A telephone number for him could not be located Tuesday and it wasn't known if he's retained an attorney.
