Proposals Expected Tuesday For Parking Near Tappan Zee Bridge Path
SOUTH NYACK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Four proposals will be unveiled Tuesday night in South Nyack to deal with parking for a shared-use path on the new Tappan Zee Bridge.
The 3-mile path is expected to attract cyclists, joggers and walkers when it opens in three years, WCBS 880's Sean Adams reported.
The question is where will they all park.
In Tarrytown, there will be a lot with 100 spaces. But in South Nyack, the original plan had the path landing in a residential neighborhood.
Residents protested, saying they were concerned about traffic and parking near their homes.
The state relented. The path will likely start on Thruway property at Exit 10.
It's estimated there will need to be about 54 parking spaces per hour when the path opens.
