Multiple Thoroughfares In Times Square Reopen After Suspicious Device Worry

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Multiple thoroughfares in Times Square were shut down late Sunday night after two devices deemed suspicious were found in the area.

The devices were later deemed safe and the scene was cleared.

Two devices were found within 50 feet of each other near 44th Street and Seventh Avenue around 11:20 p.m., officials told CBS2.

Sixth, Seventh and Eighth avenues were shut down to vehicles and pedestrians between 42nd and 45th streets. Police also closed 42nd Street.

The NYPD Bomb Squad was on the scene.

Just before 12:30 a.m., police said the packages had been deemed safe and cleared away. Roads were expected to reopen shortly afterward.
