Suspect In Seattle Double Murder Arrested In West Orange, N.J.

WEST ORANGE, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A suspect in a double homicide in Seattle was behind bars in New Jersey Saturday morning.

Ali Mohammad Brown, 29, was arrested Friday in West Orange, New Jersey, in the 200 block of Mount Pleasant Avenue in West Orange, police said.

Brown is originally from East Orange.

He was booked by the Essex County Prosecutor's Homicide Task Force in connection with two open murder warrants dating from June 1 in Seattle, and a warrant in a carjacking in Point Pleasant on June 29.

In Seattle, Brown accused of murdering two men – Ahmed Said, 28, and Dwone Anderson-Young, 23 – whom authorities believe Brown found on a personal mobile app.

CBS affiliate KIRO-TV, Seattle, reported that the victims were both gay, and the case was being investigated as a possible hate crime.

The victims had been with friends at a Seattle gay nightclub, when Said said he was going to meet a "friend" outside the club, the station reported. But the group that was with Said said the "friend" looked "unfriendly and out of place," and one person in Said's group said he was "creeped out" by the man who has since been identified as Brown, the station reported.

Authorities said Said's 2001 Mitsubishi Gallant was found abandoned in South Seattle with what KIRO called "an exorbitant amount of blood." Brown's palm print and several spent 9mm shell casings that matched those at the crime scene were found in the vehicle, the station reported.

A second man has also been taken into custody in the Seattle murders, but has not been charged, KIRO reported.

Brown also had been wanted in connection with armed robbery and carjacking that took place at a Point Pleasant coffee shop, WCBS 880's Ginny Kosola reported.

Brown was to be housed at the Essex County Correctional Center and will later be turned over to the U.S. Marshals Service, police said.
