Police Make Arrest In Slashing Of French Tourist In Harlem
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD has made an arrest following an attack on a tourist in Harlem.
Cellphone video captured the moments after a French man was slashed across his throat Friday morning on Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard.
The 27-year-old victim was in town visiting his girlfriend, who works as an au pair in Harlem.

After grabbing a Valentine's Day breakfast at IHOP, the couple was walking near West 132nd Street at around 11 a.m. when police said a complete stranger slashed the tourist randomly and unprovoked with what looked like a knife or box cutter.
After searching all weekend for the suspect, police arrested 28-year-old Khalief Young on Monday morning.
Sources told CBS2's Ali Bauman that Young has three prior arrests, including for weapons possession in 2015.
In May 2019, he was arrested for slashing a man in the neck, and then the following October he was arrested again, for punching and kicking a man in the face in Harlem. Young was arraigned for that assault in October and released without bail.
Since Friday's attack, the French victim has been recovering at Harlem Hospital, while his friends have raised nearly $7,000 to fly the tourist and his girlfriend back home and help pay his medical bills.
Young is expected to be arraigned on two counts of second-degree assault on Tuesday.
