Man Arrested, Officers Disciplined In Brooklyn Attempted Kidnapping

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man has been charged in connection with the attempted kidnapping of a 3-year-old boy earlier this week in Brooklyn.

Police said 26-year-old Oman Dominguez was arrested late Wednesday on multiple charges, including kidnapping, attempted kidnapping, petit larceny and acting in a manner injurious to a child.

On Thursday, the NYPD said two of the officers that handled the call were placed on modified duty. Sources told CBS2 they failed to acknowledge the crime had been committed and initially left without investigating or filing a report.

Investigators said Dominguez tried snatching the child away from his grandmother Monday outside a supermarket on 86th Street.

Police released surveillance video showing the suspect walking away with the boy in a stroller. The grandmother chased the man and took back the child, who was not hurt.
