Suspect Charged With Killing Eastport Man During Robbery

EASTPORT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island man has been arrested for allegedly killing another man during a robbery last month in Eastport.

Paul Batterson Jr., 22, of East Moriches, has been charged with second-degree murder in the Dec. 8 shooting death of Francisco Pirir, 45.

Suffolk County police say Batterson and another man broke into the house at 142 East Moriches Blvd. after 3 a.m,, announced the robbery and shot two men, klling Pirir. The other man suffered a gunshot wound to his hand and was treated at and released from a local hospital.

Batterson, who was arrested Saturday night, is being held in jail and was scheduled to be arrainged Sunday morning at First District Court in Central Islip.

Police are continuing their investigation and are asking anyone with information to call the homicide squad at 631-852-6492.
