Suspect Charged In Attack That Left Man Dead On East Harlem Subway Platform

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A suspect was arrested and charged Sunday in an assault on an East Harlem subway platform that left a man dead.

Kevin McDaniel, 27, of the Bronx, was charged with manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide in the incident on Friday, June 6, at the 125th Street and Lexington Avenue No. 6 train stop.

The victim – James Kutza, 45, of the Bronx – died following the incident.

Police said Kutza got into a quarrel with a suspect aboard a northbound No. 6 train, and the quarrel escalated into the suspect punching Kutza in the head once the train reached the 125th Street station, police said.

Kutza fell and struck his head on the platform. He was taken to Harlem Hospital Center, where he later died, police said.

Court information for McDaniel was not released.
