Suspect Arrested In Florida In 2012 Wyandanch, Long Island Slaying

WYANDANCH, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A man was returned to Suffolk County arrested in Orlando, Florida Tuesday and charged in a shooting that left a man dead nearly two and a half years ago in Wyandanch.

Boyd Holland, 22, of Copaigue, was returned to Long Island on Tuesday with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, police said.

Holland was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Eric Brooks, 35, on May 9, 2012.

Suffolk County police were called out around 11:35 p.m. that night after a caller reported a man had been shot in the torso in the rear of a yard on North 22nd Street in Wyandanch, police said.

Police found Brooks lying in the yard with the gunshot wound, and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Police did not indicate Tuesday how they connected Holland to the slaying.

Holland was to appear for an arraignment on Wednesday in Suffolk County First District Court.
