Survey Reveals Disturbing Trend Among Some Access-A-Ride Drivers

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- A new survey has revealed a disturbing trend amongst car-service drivers for NYC transit's para-transit program.

Investigators found that more than a quarter of Access-A-Ride drivers have texted or spoke on cellphones while transporting disabled passengers.

Inspectors also found that 36 percent drove dangerously and 6 percent had been seen speeding.

The MTA Inspector General's office said that a car service broker had been used to reduce costs.
