Survey: Most Adults Don't Work In The Occupations That They Dreamed Of As Kids

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Childhood dreams crushed! A recent survey in the journal Social Forces found that just 6-percent of adults wound up in the careers that they wanted as children.

Steven Hanson told 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria that he always dreamed of being a doctor.

"Actually a pediatrician. I loved my pediatrician. I always thought I was going to be a doctor. Instead I married one," he said, "I went into interior design."

Ethan didn't have a dream job.

"Right now I'm a nuclear medicine technologist, and I'm trying to make my way," he said.
