Many are flocking to the shore to enjoy the bonus summerlike weather, but because of riptide warnings and no lifeguards, Jones Beach Park Director Sue Guliani said the ocean is off-limits.

"They could walk along the water's edge, maybe put their feet in the water, but they're not going to be allowed to go in the water," Guliani told 1010 WINS' Mona Rivera.

Beachegoer Charlie Kiernan said just looking at the ocean is enough.

"If you're standing in the water all of a sudden you'd feel the riptide taking you out," Kiernan said.

The National Weather Service has issued a high rip current risk for New York City and Long Island. It is in effect through Friday evening.
