Summer Beach Read: 'Sundance' By David Fuller

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- What if the Sundance Kid didn't die when we think he did?

Author David Fuller told WCBS 880's Pat Farnack that, in his new novel "Sundance," bank robber Harry Longbaugh, rather than being killed in a shootout in Bolivia, actually ends up serving a prison sentence under an alias in Wyoming.

When he's released in 1913, the world has changed significantly -- automobiles have replaced horses, for example. He then heads to New York City in search of his beloved Etta.

"The Sundance Kid is a great character, and we love him because he's a movie star," Fuller said. "We really know the Sundance Kid."

Fuller said the possibility that the Sundance Kid lived beyond 1908 is very real.

"There was a group of people who went down to find the bodies of Butch (Cassidy) and Sundance and prove that they were killed there, and when they dug up the bodies, it wasn't them," Fuller said.
