Former NYPD Officer Shot, Killed On Duty In Dallas Suburbs
EULESS, Texas (CBSNewYork) -- A former NYPD officer was killed Tuesday in a shooting in suburban Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas.
Euless, Texas police Officer David Hofer was shot Tuesday afternoon, along with a suspect, in a local park near an elementary school.
Euless Police Chief Mike Brown confirmed at 5 p.m. Central Time, both the officer and suspect died at area hospitals. Hofer was in surgery at the time he died.
Chief Brown says the suspect fired at the officer right after the officer approached.
"The suspect immediately fired at officers, striking one of them. Officers returned fire striking the suspect," said Chief Mike Brown.
Hofer worked for the NYPD before moving to Texas, CBS Dallas-Fort Worth confirmed.
