Student Found Dead In Hofstra University Dorm Room

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Hofstra University student was found dead of unknown causes in a dorm room Friday.

Around 10:50 a.m., Nassau County police were sent to a dorm room at Hofstra University in Uniondale.

They found Conor Wynn, 20, of Trumbull, Conn., dead at the scene. Wynne was pronounced dead by a Nassau County emergency medical technician.

The cause of death will be determined by the Nassau County Medical Examiner's office.

Police said there is no criminality suspected.

The school sent out a letter to students and faculty with a statement Friday.

"The entire Hofstra community is saddened by the loss of Conor Wynne, a first-year marketing student from Connecticut, who passed away in his sleep this morning in the Netherlands dorm building," the statement said. "As a community, we mourn for Conor and extend our thoughts and prayers to his friends and family during this difficult time."
