Store Owner Killed In Bridgeport Robbery

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Bridgeport store owner has been shot and killed in a robbery at his business, and police are looking for two suspects.

Jose Salgado, 57, and his wife were working in their store, Sapiao's Grocery at 351 Lexington Ave., when two armed men came in at about 3 p.m. Saturday and demanded money, police said. Salgado gave them money, but one of the suspects shot him, cops said.

Salgado was taken to a hospital, where he died at about 3:45 p.m.

Surveillance video shows the suspects walking toward the store along Linen Avenue, then running away in the direction they came from, police said. Witnesses told police the men got into a bright green car with a third person inside and drove away.

No one has been arrested.

Salgado was the second Bridgeport store worker killed in the last month. On March 25, store clerk Hakeem Joseph was shot in the T Market on Reservoir Avenue in the North End.
