Suffolk County Executive Bellone Takes Oath Of Office For Second Time

SELDEN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Steve Bellone was sworn in Tuesday for his second term as Suffolk County executive.

With his wife and three young children by his side at Suffolk County Community College, Bellone was sworn into office by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

"Do not fear making mistakes nor be afraid to admit your mistakes," Bellone said during his inauguration speech. "Don't be afraid to stay the course or to change course when necessary."

He talked about the Police Department after former Chief James Burke was charged with beating up a suspect, WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported.

"I will not tolerate abuse of power in any form in this government, and I will fight it the best I can at every turn," Bellone said.

He said Suffolk County's youths are its future but that government must continue to be reformed to make it a better place for them.
