Life-Size Statue Honors Slain NYPD Detective Brian Moore One Year After Shooting

MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork)-- A life-size statue of NYPD Detective Brian Moore was unveiled in Massapequa's Plainedge Park on Saturday.

Detective Moore was shot and killed in Queens one year ago at just 25 years old.

Moore's father says he is grateful for community support and glad the statue will greet visitors coming to the park.

"It represents all the men and women of law enforcement who go to work everyday to protect us, like Brian, not knowing if they will come back to families or loved ones and represents all the good and decent people in the world," he said.

A community center was also dedicated in the slain detective's honor.
