Wake To Be Held For Mother, Children Killed In Staten Island Stabbing

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A wake will be held in Brooklyn Thursday for the three victims of a fatal stabbing at a Staten Island hotel last week.

Friends and family will gather at the Brooklyn Funeral Home in Brownsville at around 1 p.m. to say goodbye to Rebecca Cutler, 26, and two of her daughters; 19-month-old Ziana and 4-month-old Malia, CBS2 reported.

Cutler and her children died after being stabbed at around 8:50 a.m. at the Ramada Inn in the Willowbrook section of Staten Island on Feb. 10.

Cutler's third daughter, Miracle, 2, survived the attack but remains in critical condition.

Michael Sykes, 25, was arrested in connection to the deaths after police located him at a friend's house in Queens on Feb. 13.

Sykes was seen entering Cutler's room at around 8:50 a.m. and leaving at around 8:54 a.m on the day of the incident. Investigators said Sykes called his mother to say he had killed his girlfriend and was going to kill himself. After the incident, police said he got on a bus and took it to the Staten Island ferry.

Sykes is charged with murder, attempted murder and robbery in connection with the deaths.
