NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A Staten Island man who was the sole winner of a $245.6 million Powerball jackpot last month came forward Thursday.

Nandlall Mangal, 42, came forward to claim his winnings today at a ceremony in Queens.

He received his check Thursday afternoon during a press conference at the Resorts World Casino in Queens.

Mangal says he'll invest, pay off his bills and take a trip to Hawaii.

New York State requires the winner to come forward to claim their money.

The winning ticket in the August 11 drawing was sold at a Stop & Shop on Hylan Boulevard in New Dorp.

The supermarket later donated its $100,000 earnings to Project Hospitality, a local soup kitchen.
