NYPD: 71-Year-Old Man Shot Ex-Girlfriend In Murder-Suicide

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Two people are dead in what police have described as a domestic dispute between an man and a woman that led to a murder-suicide.

According to police, 71-year-old Salvatore Piscopo arrived at the Staten Island home of his 68-year-old ex-girlfriend, Rosetta Fradella, early Wednesday morning. Piscopo proceeded to shoot Fradella in the head before turning the gun on himself, police said.

Officers responded to a 911 call to the home on Spruce Street at around 9 a.m. Emergency medical personnel pronounced them both dead at the scene.

The woman's daughter had found the bodies, 1010 WINS reported.

Neighbors told 1010 WINS' Jon Leiberman the couple had recently broken up after dating for two decades.

"He wasn't living here at the time, or he was staying somewhere else temporarily," one neighbor said.

The investigation is ongoing.
