Police: Woman, 81, Killed When Car Strikes House On Staten Island

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- An 81-year-old woman was killed and an 80-year-old man was injured Monday, when a car slammed into a house on Staten Island.

Police were called at 10:18 a.m. after the crash at 35 Jackson Ave., in the Arrochar section of Staten Island.

They found the woman – identified as Mary Pannese – in the front passenger's seat, police said. She was rushed to Staten Island University Hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The man, who had been driving, was rushed to the same hospital where his condition was reported as stable, police said.

Police believe the man lost control of the vehicle and struck a house, the NYPD said.

The NYPD Collision Investigation Squad was investigating late Monday, police said.
