Staten Island Expressway Lanes Reopen After Morning Pileup

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- At least one person was injured when at least six cars were involved in a pileup Sunday morning on the Staten Island Expressway, officials said.

The accident occurred around 8:55 a.m. near Richmond Road. Eastbound lanes from Hylan Boulevard and Lily Pond Avenue were close while salt was spread on the highway, but the lanes have since reopened.

The injured person was transported to a hospital, a FDNY official said. The extent of the injuries were unknown.
