Staten Island Express Bus Service Overhaul In Effect

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A revamped schedule is now in effect for Staten Island's express bus network.

The MTA overhaul includes more direct routes, less frequent stopping, and expanded off-peak and weekend service to Manhattan.

The MTA says the average routes will now be 23 percent shorter.

Nearly 36,000 passengers use the Staten Island express network each weekday.
