Manager Says Suspected Shoplifter Attacked Him At Staten Island Deli

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Video released Friday showed a suspected shoplifter attacking a deli owner on Staten Island.

Store security showed the man inside the Alex Gourmet Deli, at 1410 Richmond Terr. in the West Brighton section of Staten Island, on Friday morning.

The suspect was allegedly seen taking two beers from the deli at 8:30 a.m.

When he was approached by the manager, the suspect allegedly pulled out a knife.

The manager said he fought the suspect, but he was left with scratches and bite wounds.

"He take the beer and he left outside. I catch him on the outside just after two, three minutes, he come back here with the knife," the manager said.

Other customers helped hold the alleged attacker until police arrived.
