Police: Man Tried To Rob Woman, Threatened To Shoot 4-Year-Old In Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- Police in Stamford, Connecticut were searching Wednesday night for a man who allegedly tried to rob a mother, and threatened to shoot her 4-year-old child.

The robbery happened around 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, near South Pacific Street and Woodland Place in Stamford, police said.

The suspect approached the woman as she was trying to put the child in the car, and threatened to shoot the child, police said.

The woman was able to knock the gun out of his hands, police said. He picked it up before running off empty handed, police said.

The suspect was last seen running east on Woodland Place and was captured on surveillance video, police said. He may not be from the Stamford area and may be transient, police said.
