Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing On Median In Stafford, NJ

STAFFORD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A small plane made an emergency landing Sunday morning in the Jersey shore town of Stafford.

The aircraft touched down safely near a Home Depot on Route 72 shortly after 10 a.m., police said.

Police told WCBS 880 that five people were aboard the plane. One passenger was treated for a small cut on his arm, but no one else was injured, authorities said.

The aircraft was carrying students from Skydive East Coast skydiving school, authorities said.

The plane lost power, forcing the pilot to land on the grass median between the eastbound and westbound lanes of Route 72.

Police closed the left lanes of the highway in both directions for about an hour and a half during the investigation.

The investigation is being turned over the Federal Aviation Administration.
