FedEx Worker Charged With Stabbing Man On Midtown Street

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A man was stabbed in the back Monday in Midtown, Manhattan.

The incident happened around 1 p.m. at 33rd Street and Fifth Avenue.

Police sources told CBS2 the suspect was a 22-year-old FedEx employee who had an ongoing dispute with the 28-year-old victim, who works nearby.

The victim was stabbed multiple times in the back. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he is expected to survive.

"It was fast, really fast. Like I didn't hear a scuffle or anything," witness Jay Hukahori told CBS2's Valerie Castro. "I just saw the cops had just arrived, he was on the ground, there's blood on the ground, somebody holding like a bandage to his back. And then some other guy said, 'man, the guy's got a hole in his back, I don't know what's going on.' And then there's all this blood, and that's all I saw."

Tyquan Bailey, 22, was charged with attempted murder, felony assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

"We were shocked to learn about the incident in Manhattan today and our thoughts go out to the individual who was injured," FedEx said in a statement. "We are cooperating fully with investigating authorities at this time.

Exactly what led to the violence is still unclear.
