Pharmacy students spent part of their Saturday, volunteering at the safe disposal site for unused medications, WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported.

The disposal was meant to prevent the growing problem of pill parties, where young people put prescription pills in a bowl, grab a handful, and take whatever pills they have in their hands.

"The consequences regarding drug abuse is just not worth it," Kevin Best, 18, said, "It's a dangerous activity."

Hundreds of pills were collected at the event. The most unusual drop off were pills from the 1920s that came in a glass container.
