St. Bartholomew's Church One Of 10 New National Historic Landmarks
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- St. Bartholomew's Church and Community House has been designated as one of 10 new national landmarks.

U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell said in a statement that these newly-designated monuments "reveal important pieces of our nation's diverse heritage through art, architecture and stories of community and identity."
Other new landmarks include:
- Ames Monument, located in Ames County, Wyoming
- Athenaeum (Das Deutsche Haus), of Indianapolis, Indiana
- Gaukler Pointe (Edsel and Eleanor Ford House), of Macomb County, Michigane
- James Merrill House, of Stonington, Connecticut
- The Steward's House, of Cornwall, Connecticut
- Man Mound, of Sauk County, Wisconsin
- Mississippi State Capitol, of Jackson, Mississippi
- Norman Film Manufacturing Company, of Jacksonville, Florida
- Zoar Historic District, of Zoar, Ohio
St. Bartholomew's Church, now located on Park Avenue between 50th Street and 51st Street, started off as a humble structure in Lower Manhattan in 1835. The congregation moved uptown to its current location in the early 1900s.
Earlier this year, President Barack Obama dedicated the Stonewall National Monument, of Greenwich Village, the first national monument honoring the gay rights movement in the United States.
