SPCA: 'Sweet Dog' Forced Out Of SUV, Left On Side Of Road In Coram

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A $2,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case of a dog left on the side of the road in Coram.

The Suffolk County SPCA received a call Thursday from a woman who said she saw a blue SUV stop along Sun Valley Dr., open the passenger door and push a small white dog with a bushy tail out of the door.

The SUV then drove away, officials said.

The dog was sitting by the curbside and appeared to be very nervous, officials said.

It's a crime to abandon animals, said Suffolk County SPCA Chief Roy Gross, and added that this was a cowardly act to push such a sweet dog out of the SUV and drive off.
