6-Year-Old Girl Nearly Drowns At Spa Castle In Queens
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A little girl nearly drowned at a spa in Queens Friday afternoon.
The incident happened just before 2 p.m. Friday when a 6-year-old girl was pulled out of jet pool at Spa Castle in College Point at 11th Avenue.
Witnesses said they weren't sure how long she was under water. When someone saw her, they immediately pulled her out and began performing CPR.
A manager on site told CBS2's Tracee Carrasco the spa is doing its own investigation.
A witness told CBS2 someone noticed a shadowy figure at the bottom of the jet pool and immediately stepped into action. Crowds surrounded the scene as other spa-goers called 911.
The witness said the girl's hair may have not been pulled back and got caught in the jets, which pulled her under water. The jet pool had a posted "no swimming zone."
Police said no criminal charges will be filed. The child was taken to Booth Memorial Hospital with minor injuries and is in stable condition.
