Police: Long Island Man Was Running On Highway Without Pants

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Long Island man has been arrested after troopers found him running on a highway with just a shirt and sneakers, police said.

Robert Zimmerman, 57,  of East Northport, was arrested on a misdemeanor public lewdness charge, New York State Police said Saturday.

Police received a 911 call around 10 p.m. Friday night reporting a "naked man'' was running along the Southern State Parkway.

Arriving officers found Zimmerman standing on the side of the highway wearing only a T-shirt and sneakers.

Police said Zimmerman was arrested after running into a wooded area. His pants were later found in the woods.

It was not immediately clear if Zimmerman had an attorney who could comment on his behalf. A message left at a number listed for Zimmerman wasn't immediately returned.
