Police: Man Held On $2,000,000 Bail In Southampton Sex Assault

SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A house painter has been charged with sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman after breaking into a home in the Long Island resort village of Southampton.

Southampton Village police say Marvin Saul Siciliano-Nunez, 20, of Hampton Bays was charged with burglary and sexual abuse in the 8 a.m. Friday attack.

Siciliano-Nunez told Southampton Village Court Judge Barbara Wilson Saturday that his $2 million bail would prevent his release before trial, the New York Post reported.

The newspaper quoted authorities as saying Siciliano-Nunez choked and sexually assaulted his victim before she escaped and ran outside as he chased her with a baseball bat.

Police said Siciliano, arrested on gang assault charges in May, was caught after a foot chase.

His lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
