Lullaby And Goodnight: LI Hospital Airs Lullaby Whenever A Baby Is Born

OCEANSIDE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island hospital is now celebrating newborns with music.

As WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs reported, Brahms' Lullaby has a special meaning at South Nassau Communities Hospital.

"Every time a baby is born to play the Brahms' Lullaby," explained hospital spokesman Joe Calderone.

On average, that's about 2,000 times a year, according to Calderone.

South Nassau has been playing the lullaby for about two weeks now, and Calderone said the impact has been wonderful.

"Everyone just kind of stops for a moment, no matter what you're doing, and it really brings a smile to everyone's face," he said.
