Soon-To-Be College Grad From Greenburgh Takes To Helping Peers Find Jobs
GREENBURGH, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- It is not easy for college graduates to find jobs these days, so one local student has taken matters into her own hands to help herself and others.
As WCBS 880's Sean Adams reported Friday, SUNY Albany senior Elizabeth Skovron, of Greenburgh, was one of many soon-to-graduate college students who found her unable to find a job.
"I was either hearing back from no companies, or a few companies that would reply and say they didn't get a chance to look at my résumé," Skovron said.
So Skovron contacted Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner, who holds the local job club. He let her carve out her own internship, helping recent grads.
Skovron will be meeting with Feiner through the summer. They will brainstorm and network.
"Connecting, in person, face to face, is something that is so important -- especially with my generation because we are always on the computer, on our cell phones, and we are distancing ourselves that really important personal connection," she said.
Who knows, Skovron said – maybe she and Feiner will start their own company.
