Skeleton Found On Second Floor Of East New York, Brooklyn Building

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police were investigating Monday night after someone found skeletal remains were found inside an East New York, Brooklyn building.

Police were called shortly before 1 p.m. Monday to 745 Barbey St., and found the skeleton on the second floor of the building, the NYPD said.

AM New York reported a homebuyer had bought the previously-abandoned building from the city, but was not allowed to go inside until Monday. Upon going inside, the buyer found the skeleton with a red sweat shirt and gray sweat pants on, the newspaper reported.

The skeleton was believed to be that of a squatter, the newspaper reported.

The New York City Medical Examiner's office will determine the cause of the person's death.
