Shoppers Continue To Seek Out Bargains As Christmas, Chanukah Approach

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- It's the great gift giving dilemma; what to give, and what's the best deal?

Black Friday is in the rear-view and so is Cyber Monday, but Chanukah and Christmas are still dead ahead.

The gift giving, present purchasing, ever elusive search for original, non-cliched bargains is enough to make a shoppers head spin.

"I hate shopping for people, because you don't want to get them the wrong thing," Jackie Stewart told CBS2's Scott Rapoport.

Shoppers at Queens Center Mall were looking for hot deals on gifts for family and friends, on Friday.

"Starbucks gift cards I have to say. Cause all my friends love coffee," Peter Van Dunk said.

Shoppers also weighed in with the best giving bargains that they came across.

"I just bought a beautiful vest, and it cost me with discounts and all, I paid like $27 for it," Anna Mota said.

More than a few folks said that the safest way to go was gift cards.

The National Retail Federation says almost $32-billion will be spent on gift cards this holiday season across the country.
