Newark To Hold Parade For Olympic Boxer Shakur Stevenson

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Newark is set to honor Olympic boxing silver medalist Shakur Stevenson with a parade on Sunday.

Another New Jersey native, gymnast Laurie Hernandez, was honored with her own parade in her hometown of Old Bridge on Saturday.

The 16-year-old was one of the final five in the U.S. women's gymnastic team that won gold in Rio. She also won an individual silver medal on the balance beam.

Stevenson is an elite 19-year-old with sophisticated boxing skills and incredible athleticism.

The parade for Stevenson begins at noon on Broad Street in Newark.
