Services At Clinic Linked To Joan Rivers Will No Longer Be Medicare- Or Medicaid-Eligible
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Medicare and Medicaid have decided to cut off the clinic where Joan Rivers went into cardiac arrest before she died last year.
As of Jan. 31, Yorkville Endoscopy will no longer have its services covered by Medicare or Medicaid funds.
After a review of deficiencies at the clinic, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services found the facility "no longer meets the conditions for coverage… for a supplier of services."
Rivers died in September of last year, from brain damage due to lack of oxygen after she stopped breathing during an endoscopy at a clinic. She was 81.
The agency had cited the clinic, Yorkville Endoscopy, for several errors, including failing to identify deteriorating vital signs and provide timely intervention.
Rivers' daughter has hired a malpractice attorney to look into her death.
