Selden Man Faces DWI Charge In Wrong-Way Crash That Injured Two

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- A Selden man was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a wrong-way crash that seriously injured two people on Sunday morning.

Pedro Hernandez was driving a gray, 2000, Toyota Camry eastbound in the westbound lanes of Route 347 in Smithtown when he slammed into a red, 2006, Toyota Corolla, police said.

The driver of the Corolla, Reyna Pena, 52, and passenger Lorenzo Rodriguez, 53, were both taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries.

Hernandez, 24, was also taken to Stony Brook with non-life threatening injuries he will be arraigned at a later date.
